Frequently AskedQuestions
Getting started
What is 2Click?
2Click sends files straight from your device to someone else's. Instead of uploading to a cloud server and making them download it back again, it opens a direct connection between the two devices and moves the file across.
Is 2Click free?
Yes. 2Click is free to send and receive.
Do I need an account to send a file?
A quick sign-in, yes. It ties your links to you so you can pause or revoke a share whenever you want.
Does the person receiving the file need the app too?
Yes. They open your link in 2Click to receive the files. It is free to install.
How it works
How does 2Click send files without uploading them?
It opens a direct connection between the two devices and sends the file across that. The link you share points at your device rather than at a server, so the file never travels to a data centre and back.
Do both devices need to be on the same Wi-Fi?
No. Same Wi-Fi is the fastest path: the two devices connect directly and nothing passes through a server. On different networks the transfer falls back to a relay automatically, so you never have to choose. It works out the best route it can.
Can I send files over mobile data?
Yes. When a direct connection isn't possible, a relay carries the transfer, so mobile data works just like Wi-Fi.
Do both phones need to be online at the same time?
Yes, and both need the app open. 2Click is a live device-to-device transfer, so the file goes straight from one device to the other while you are both present. If it is interrupted, nothing is lost: it picks up from exactly where it stopped when you both come back.
What happens if the transfer gets interrupted?
It picks up where it left off. If the connection drops, the transfer resumes rather than starting over.
Is there a file size limit?
No hard limit. Large files and whole folders move directly, as fast as your connection allows.
Does 2Click compress or reduce the quality of photos and videos?
No. Files arrive byte-for-byte identical to the original: same resolution, same bitrate, same metadata.
What file types can I send?
Any type. There is no restriction on type or size: 2Click moves the bytes as they are and never inspects them, so photos, video, documents, archives and whole folders all work.
Privacy and security
Where do my files go? Are they stored on a server?
Nowhere except the other device. Nothing is uploaded, stored, or scanned on a server along the way.
Are transfers encrypted?
Yes. Transfers are encrypted end to end, so only you and the person you sent to can open the files.
Can 2Click see the files I send?
No. The file goes straight from your device to theirs and never passes through us, so there is nothing for us to see.
Do the links or transfers expire?
Yes. The sender chooses when, from the options in the app, and after that the link stops working. Senders can also passcode-protect a link and remove someone's access at any time.
Platforms and availability
Is 2Click available on iPhone?
Not yet. 2Click is launching on Android first, with iPhone support on the way, and transfers will work across both once it lands.
Is there a desktop or web version?
No. 2Click is Android only today, with iOS in progress. There is no desktop or web version.
How do I join the waitlist?
Use any "Join the waitlist" button on this site and enter your email address. We will email you when 2Click goes live.
Troubleshooting
The transfer is slow. What affects the speed?
Your network, not the app. On a direct connection 2Click pushes as hard as the link allows, measured at 40-54 Mbps phone-to-phone on ordinary Wi-Fi, in both directions. A same-network transfer is faster than one that crosses networks, and a busy or weak Wi-Fi is the limit, not 2Click.
